REMOTE BIND ADDRESS

Purpose

Use the RemoteBindAddress parameter to limit incoming requests to a single network interface card (NIC) on the server.

Syntax

<rem_bind_addr> ::=
   RemoteBindAddress = <string>

Semantics

By default, clients may connect from any network interface through which the host server accepts traffic. This parameter allows you to bind the Firebird service to incoming requests through one NIC and to reject connection requests from any other network interfaces. This should help to overcome problems in some subnetworks where the server is handling traffic through multiple NICs.

The string must specify a NIC's IP using a valid dotted IP format. The default value is no value (i.e. respond to all NIC's).

Example

The below example limits incoming requests to those coming from the NIC bound to IP address 10.0.0.142

RemoteBindAddress = 10.0.0.142
